We’re doing something BIG...

They are officially called Giraffe Omnibed Carestations, and they are used for babies born at 29 weeks of age or younger. Giraffe Beds continually stabilize temperature while providing an easy workflow for care providers, noise and light monitoring, family-centered care, and excellent infection prevention. Infants will receive all their care in this bed for the first 72 hours of life or longer. The goal for the NICU is to use them with micro-preemies and critically-ill infants from the delivery room to their NICU room in order to prevent intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH - bleeding in the brain) and other complications. The bed acts like a mother’s womb to further stabilize the baby and promote growth and development.

They sound amazing, right? We agree! The trouble is that Blank only has nine of these beds and they want to eventually get 25 Giraffe Beds so they can better serve NICU patients. But the real kicker is that Giraffe Beds cost $36,000!

And that’s where we come in. Average Everyday Miracles is committed to raising $36,000 to purchase a Giraffe Bed in honor of all the Blank NICU miracles in our lives and all the miracles yet to join our group. 

We need your help to meet this goal. Here are three easy ways to help us reach our goal:

2. Share our fundraising posts and ask your family and friends to support our goal. 
3. Create your own birthday fundraiser to benefit Average Everyday Miracles on Facebook.

We’d like to encourage you to host a fundraiser in honor of your NICU baby’s birthday or to celebrate the anniversary of their home day. Here are four easy steps to host your own Giraffe Bed fundraiser that will help AEM reach our ultimate goal of purchasing a Giraffe Bed for the NICU. 

How to Host Your Own Fundraiser

1. Share Your Fund Raising Goal
   Post one of the Giraffe Bed Goal images (below) and share why you are hosting a fundraiser. 
2. Donation Collection Options
   1. You can have individuals send you their donations and you can consolidate those donations into one check or online donation. You will receive a single donation receipt for taxes. [Checks can be mailed to: AEM ℅ Dani Steinberg, 33022 E Trail Ridge Cir, Adel, IA 50003]
   2. You can have individuals send us checks or online donations directly so that they can receive the contribution receipt for their taxes. Note: Have them include the name of your fundraiser in the notes so we can credit your fundraiser.
   3. You can also set up a fundraiser on Facebook to benefit Average Everyday Miracles and those donations will go directly to us (although they charge a small fee).
      
3. Set a Deadline
   Using a birthday, holiday, or anniversary as a deadline helps make donations more timely.
   
4. Share Your Results
   Thank your donors and share the results of your fundraiser through your personal social media feeds. We will also share your results in the Blank NICU Family FB Group to encourage others to host a fundraiser as well.

In honor of Sophia’s first birthday, we are hosting a fundraiser to help Average Everyday Miracles buy a Giraffe Bed for the Blank NICU. A Giraffee Bed is designed to better serve the needs of micro-premies and critically-ill infants.
